Reverent

Reverence is a profound respect like the respect we have for God. A Scout is faithful in his religious duties and respects the beliefs of others.

Clean

A Scout keeps his or her body and mind fit and clean. A Scout chooses the company of those who live by high standards. A Scout helps keep his or her home and community clean.

Brave

A Scout can face danger although he or she is afraid. A Scout has the courage to stand for what he or she thinks is right even if others laugh or make threats.

Thrifty

A Scout works to pay his or her own way and gets fair value for money spent. A Scout saves for the future. A Scout conserves, not only money, but natural resources, time, energy… anything of value. A scout does not waste.

Cheerful

It is easy to smile when you are happy but it is much harder when you are sad or upset. Knowing this, a Scout looks for the bright side of life and finds a reason to smile because a smile, cheerfulness, is contagious. A Scout cheerfully does tasks that come his or her way. A Scout tries to make others happy.

Obedient

A Scout follows the rules of his family, school, and troop. He obeys the laws of his community and country. If he thinks these rules and laws are unfair, he tries to have them changed in an orderly manner rather than disobeying them.

Kind

A Scout knows there is strength in being gentle, not weakness. A Scout treats others as he or she wants to be treated. Without good reason, a Scout does not harm or kill any living thing. Kindness implies empathy.

Courteous

A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. A Scout knows that using good manners makes it easier for people to get along. Courtesy shows respect for others which, in turn, promotes cooperation.
